Derek Fromson - Founder and Principal of Digital Dominoes Consulting

Derek Fromson is a Chevy Chase, Maryland-based senior communications advisor with more than three decades of experience in helping high-profile clients in areas such as PR and strategic marketing, social media governance, multimedia storytelling, and executive speechwriting. He is the principal/founder of Digital Dominoes Consulting (DDC), a communications firm he founded in 2016 that provides a range of digital internal and external communications services to clients such as N2Growth, Coca-Cola, Korn Ferry, TIAA-CREF, and the Council on Foundations. With a less-is-more approach, Derek Fromson optimizes his clients' ability to connect with audiences via engaging and modern storytelling methods, tailoring content to promote their unique mission.

Derek Fromson grew his consultancy practice by 15 percent within its first year of operation and has steadily grown his client base in subsequent years by delivering successful strategies and consistent results. Prior to launching DDC, he was the director of communications with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and World Health Organization (WHO). He managed 30 communications specialists and oversaw all aspects of digital strategy, public affairs, multimedia publications, and social media.

Over the course of two years with PAHO and WHO, Derek Fromson facilitated a threefold increase in social media followers and annual mentions and retweets by incorporating bilingual (English/Spanish) management guidelines for all platforms. He also played a vital role in informing the public on food safety issues and PAHO's vaccination efforts, receiving the International Human Rights Day Award in 2015 for his work in this capacity.

Derek Fromson also served for two years as the head of internal/external digital communications with the World Bank Group and began his career in communications as a senior manager and consultant with Korn Ferry. Over the course of eight years with the company, he significantly expanded its social media presence, created award-winning branding campaigns, and earned honors from MarCom, MerComm, and PRSA.

A former journalist, Derek Fromson held editorial roles with The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and the El Paso-Juarez Business Journal. While working for the Washington Post, he earned an Award of Excellence from the Society of News Design for graphics reporting for “The FDR Memorial.” In addition, he was honored at The Los Angeles Times with Top of The Times for web coverage of “Lessons and Legacies: 25 Years After Vietnam.”

He holds a master of business administration from the University of Southern California and a master of arts in city and regional planning, with emphasis in international development, from Cornell University.
